The Vietnam e-visa program has been recently introduced to simplify the visa application process for travelers visiting Vietnam. This online system allows foreign nationals to apply for a visa and receive it electronically, avoiding the hassle and long queues associated with traditional visa processing methods. One of the significant advantages of the e-visa program is its flexibility when it comes to the new Vietnam E-visa duration of stay in Vietnam.
New Vietnam E-visa duration starting from August 15, 2023, the validity of the electronic visa (EV) has been extended to 90 days. On June 24, 2023, the Parliament passed a law amending and supplementing certain provisions of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam in 2023, which will come into effect on August 15, 2023. The amended law includes revisions to the duration of certain types of visas as follows:
Visa with the code SQ is valid for a maximum of 30 days.
Visas with the codes HN, DL, and EV are valid for a maximum of 90 days.
Visa with the code VR is valid for a maximum of 180 days.
Visas with the codes NG1, NG2, NG3, NG4, LV1, LV2, Đt4, DN1, DN2, NN1, NN2, NN3, DH, PV1, PV2, and TT are valid for a maximum of 1 year.

Furthermore, this amended law also stipulates that the issuance of electronic visas shall be based on ensuring national defense, national security, social order, and safety in line with Vietnam's foreign policy and socio-economic development. The government will decide the list of countries and territories whose citizens are eligible for electronic visas and the list of international border gates that permit foreigners to enter and exit using the new Vietnam E-visa duration (in addition to the current regulations in the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam in 2014).
