Step by step instructions on how to apply for a visa

Vietnam is a beautiful country in Southeast Asia that has become a popular destination for tourists and business travelers alike. To enter Vietnam, foreign visitors must obtain a visa. While there are several types of visas available, the Vietnam eVisa has become a popular option for its convenience and simplicity. In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know about the Vietnam eVisa, including eligibility, application process, requirements, and more.

The Ultimate Guide to Affordable and Urgent Visas to Vietnam

The Vietnam electronic visa, commonly known as the e-visa, is a digital credential that grants individuals from all nations and regions to visit Vietnam for a designated duration. This electronic visa can be acquired by submitting an online application via the official government website. It accommodates both single and multiple entries, enabling stays of up to 90 days within the borders of Vietnam.

The Vietnam Electronic Visa, commonly known as the Vietnam E-visa, is one of the visa types issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department for foreign visitors entering the country. The E-visa is valid for single & multiple-entry use and allows a stay of up to 90 days.

Unlike the traditional visa application process conducted at the Embassy and physically stamped onto the passport, the E-visa is processed electronically but holds the same legal value. Foreigners can easily apply for the E-visa through the official e-visa website, make the required payment, and await the outcome. The processing time typically takes 3 to 5 working days, and upon approval, applicants can print the visa directly from the system.

While the E-visa is suitable for various purposes, such as tourism, short business trips, and visiting family, it remains relatively new to citizens worldwide. Presently, Vietnam supports online visa issuance for citizens of all countries across the globe.

Who is eligible for the Vietnam eVisa?

As per the Vietnam Immigration Department, Vietnam has introduced a pilot program for E-visa issuance, extending this option to citizens from all nations and regions. Under this program, foreigners can apply for the E-visa, which allows a maximum stay of 90 days. The E-visa is versatile, catering to different purposes such as sightseeing, participating in organized tours, conducting business trips (with sponsorship required), and visiting family.

What are the requirements for the Vietnam eVisa?

To be eligible for the Vietnam eVisa, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Reside in a country other than Vietnam and not currently be present in Vietnam.
  • Possess a valid passport with at least 6 months of validity at the time of application.
  • Not be prohibited from entering Vietnam, as specified in Article 21 of the Law on entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam.
  • Hold citizenship in one of the countries listed as eligible for Vietnam's e-Visa under the provisions of Decree No. 7/2017/ND-CP issued by the Vietnam Government.

Additionally, it is crucial to provide accurate information on the application form that matches your passport details. Any inconsistencies may lead to the rejection of your application.

What are the benefits of the Vietnam eVisa?

E-visa offers remarkable advantages for international citizens, workers, investors, and more by streamlining the visa process and procedures.

  • Anywhere - anytime process: Instead of visiting an Embassy, you can apply for a visa from anywhere and at any time with just a computer or laptop connected to the Internet. The entire process is conducted online through the official E-visa website in Vietnam.
  • Simplified procedure: Unlike other visa methods that require numerous documents, the E-visa registration is straightforward. You only need to follow step-by-step instructions and provide the necessary information on the website.
  • Time and cost-saving: Avoid the hassle and expenses of traveling back and forth to the Vietnam Embassy. With E-visa, you can easily process your application from the comfort of your own home, saving time, money, and energy.
  • Easy follow-up: Your E-visa application will be associated with a registration code. After submission, you can easily track and self-check the progress and results using this code with just a few clicks on your computer.
  • Convenience: Once you obtain an E-visa online, you can conveniently save the PDF file of your visa and print it yourself, making it ready and available for your travels.

What are the limitations of the Vietnam e-Visa

While the benefits of E-visa are substantial, there are some drawbacks associated with this new visa option:

  • High accuracy requirement: The approval of the visa relies entirely on the information provided during the application process. If any information is incorrect or insufficient, you cannot amend it after submission. Moreover, the application fee is non-refundable if the application gets rejected.
  • To avoid any visa-related issues during your trip to Vietnam, it is essential to plan accordingly. If your stay exceeds 90 days, explore alternative visa options, and ensure you acquire the necessary visas or permits if you plan to leave and re-enter Vietnam.

Tips for a successful Vietnam e-Visa application

To enhance the chances of a successful Vietnam e-Visa application, follow these helpful tips:

  • Double-check all information: Ensure that all details provided in your application match your passport precisely, as any inconsistencies may lead to rejection.
  • Use a high-quality passport photo: Submit a clear and high-quality passport photo to facilitate a smooth application process.
  • Apply early: To allow sufficient processing time, apply for your e-Visa at least one week before your intended travel date.
  • Check your email regularly: Your e-Visa will be sent to your email, so regularly monitor your inbox and ensure that your email address is accurate on the application.
